A Shinto wedding is one of the most authentic and sacred ways to celebrate love in Japan. If you are considering a wedding in Japan for foreigners, especially from Singapore or Hong Kong, a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony at a historic shrine in Osaka offers a once-in-a-lifetime cultural experience. At Goryo Shrine in central Osaka, you can hold a refined and intimate shrine wedding fully produced by One Eight Planning and Masa, an experienced wedding producer and photographer.

What is a Shinto Wedding?

A Shinto wedding is a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony held at a Shinto shrine. The couple makes their vows before the kami (Shinto deities), seeking blessings for their marriage. Unlike Western weddings, a Japan wedding ceremony emphasizes spiritual purity, harmony, and family unity. Key elements include:

  • Purification ritual by a Shinto priest
  • Norito prayer recitation
  • San-san-kudo (sacred sake ritual)
  • Reading of marriage vows
  • Tamagushi offering to the deities
  • Optional ring exchange

For couples who wish to get married in Japan, a Shinto ceremony provides authenticity, elegance, and deep cultural meaning.
